autumn migration and winter-bird visitors

The last weekend of october brought snow to the entire eastern seaboard and sent the autumn bird
migration into its final gasps of life. Blue birds showed up almost immediately, as did robins and cedar waxwings.
This years migration was not well-focused with rain and low-pressure dominating the season.
The fall foliage is now past prime, as the snow knocked down a great percentage of the leaves, however bright yellows, and burnt oranges still dominate an otherwise transitioning mountainscape.
As the forest opens up to the viewer's eye(three killing frosts have knocked down cover)turkeys and deer
should become more noticeable. We have one large black bear frequenting the ridge, here at the lodge.

PENN STATE FOOTBALL, THE FLOOD, FALL FOLIAGE

Most of us on the eastern seaboard experienced the latest storm/flood cycle and,  if you were intending to
travel to STATE COLLEGE for the home game that weekend,  the perfect way to have done that was to come up (from Baltimore, Philly, DC., Lancaster/Harrisburg) on THURSDAY  and stay at Penns Creek Mountain Lodge) thus avoiding all the road closures which most likely tanked your weekend. WE are perfectly situated,
just take 11-15 north instead of 322 west after you cross the Duncannon bridge, jump off on 104 and you will be at the lodge in 1 hr! The following morning you are 45 minutes east of Boalsburg and no hassles attending the game.
AUTUMN is here, there may be a great leaf turn, (what with all the rain) and it is always the very best season to get some fresh air, go for a walk or stand around a campfire. Don't forget Octoberfest either.
